Since its opening, the hotel Hannong has always been close to the artistic world. The Horn brothers, who founded the hotel in the 20s in were knowledgeable modern art collectors. collectionneurs avisés d'art moderne.
Together with Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Jean Hans Arp and the architect Theo Van Doesburg, they were the original designers of the decor within Aubette, on place Kléber.
In later years, they were involved in founding the collection at the Modern Art Museum of Strasbourg by donating a large part of their works.
